Bleeding Hands
Paulette Bragg’s maternal grandfather, Howard Roosevelt Lloyd, was born in 1902 and started working in the rubber industry in 1918. His nickname was “Whitey,” on account of his white hair. Howard was a hard-working tire builder who retired from the Mohawk Rubber in 1967. He believed strongly in worker’s rights, and proudly served as the United Rubber Worker’s International Vice President from 1945-1949.
