Dad Made Time
Kate Dunigan’s father, Dalton Oliver, worked at Goodyear Plant 2 and drove the flatbed truck that delivered sheets of rubber to the tire builders. Dalton was born on the Kentucky/Tennessee border in 1906, and came to Akron with his older brother in 1924. They both worked in the rubber industry and lived the rest of their lives in Akron. Dalton worked mornings at Goodyear for over 40 years, and had a second job working at a local bank in the evening. He met his wife while playing baseball for Goodyear, and together they had 10 children who all took great pride in their hard work.
