Orange Jacket
Joe Nix was a WWII veteran, rubber worker’s union representative, and proud Goodyear worker from 1945-1979. He had a passion for sports and played basketball at Central High School where he was an All-City performer. His nickname was “Little Napoleon '' for his fierce determination. His daughter, Pamela Nix, and her sister can remember attending Wingfoot’s basketball games at Goodyear Hall. She followed her father’s footsteps and became a union representative at United Parcel Service to bring fair treatment and better work conditions to all. Joe proudly wore his orange union jacket at the workplace to represent his fellow employees and was a part of the 1976 strike with hundreds of fellow employees.
