Painting a Picture

John Saros recalls life in Akron while sharing stories about Earl C. Smith, his father-in-law, who worked as a mechanic at General Tire & Rubber Company from 1951 until his death on January 16, 1977. Earl oversaw hundreds of different production machines, as well as electrical and plumbing infrastructure in the plants. Earl’s work ethic and devotion to his family made a profound impact on John, and shaped the way he thinks about Akron.
