Argy Pickle remembers his dad, Argy Pickle Sr., as a Goodyear Plant 2 tire builder and hard-worker who moved to Akron from Mississippi and later died while walking to the gym in Goodyear Heights. Argy Jr. and his siblings grew up as CODAs (child of deaf adults) and he sometimes worked as a street entertainer to support his family. His memories of growing up in Akron are full of friendly people and a strong sense of community. Argy remembers the noisiness of the deaf club, watching the Silents play football, and seeing famous performers like the 3 Stooges and Frank Sinatra at Akron's theaters. Argy joined the U.S. Navy, served in Akron's Fire Department, retiring as District Chief Pickle.
