Printing Machines

Cheryl Suttle Wagoner’s father, Reuben Festus Suttle, graduated from Green high-school in 1952 and started working for Goodyear in the print shop. He met his wife across from Goodyear Tire and got married in 1955. Reuben played semi-pro baseball for Goodyear, bowled on Tuesday nights at the Goodyear Bowling Hall, and was an avid sportsman. His nickname was “Special” because he had only one arm after losing the other in an accident when he was 12 years old. Despite his disability, Reuben never let anyone bully him and was fiercely spirited competitor and athlete. He had to cross the picket line during the strikes to support his family, and retired from Goodyear in 1985.
